The Five O’clock Somewhere Regatta
(otherwise known as the “No Experience Necessary Regatta” or alternatively, “We Need Some New Stories Regatta”)
Notice of Race
Race days to be Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2, with Monday, August 3 being an alternate if racing is cancelled on one of the other days.
The racing will be a mix of short courses and one long course.
No need to pre-register or participate for the complete series. Skippers meetings will be held at 11 am (5 pm in the Azores) on each of the race days. Racing will tentatively start at 12 noon (5 pm in the Cape Verde Islands).
All sailboats welcome. We will figure out a handicap system for everyone.Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories (to be made up at the whim of the regatta organizers - the crew of Desperado) but “best dressed” is a pretty obvious category. Best Home-made Rudder could be a category too...
There will also be a new cup added to the club collection so be the first to get your name on it!
Although the crew of Desperado is organizing this event we would sure appreciate any assistance for setting up and running the races and remember, no experience necessary. If you want further info please call Chris Keyes at 581 1579 or better yet, e-mail at
